Weekword (super duper late!)=Braid via Hennie Mavis
So I'm home from a very long and difficult week and a half of family strain. I'm going to add to this post as the week goes, but just wanted to leave a picture that made me feel lonely, and hopeful, and intensely just real the moment I took it. My life is inextricably braided with the beautiful resonance of finding a family to love and feel with that I'm bound to through marriage, and blessed to have acquired. I've been an orphan girl for a very long time, and the thought of losing a piece of this intertwined, tangled weave of kinship so soon after attaining him breaks me completely. But, the pain is part of the love.

Very cool braid! Great take on the theme.
ReplyDeleteHi Ecobatt! I was going to ask, "Are you a biologist?" But I see you are. I am. (Or, was--I'm retired now). I have lots of pictures from bat studies from when I was a grad student--not mine, as I studied the behavior of free-ranging horses. But some of my classmates and professors were studying bats. What bats do you study?
I've done general ecology studies on microchiropterans throughout California and have had the wonderful privilege to work under other biologists in the tropics on New World Microchirpterans. I'm still dying to hang out with the mega bats some day in Australia and Malaysia, but I'm all too busy these days teaching and managing the biology labs at my local community college.
ReplyDeleteWild horse studies sound amazing! I worked for 4 years as a teenager for an Arabian breeder and participated in long distance equestrian training in the Western Sierra Nevadas-horses are a deep seated love. I've never been to Idaho, but I've heard it's beautiful country and really enjoy the wild mustang herds in Nevada.
Looking forward to following you more :)
