Wishcasting Wednesday-What Do You Wish to Invite In?

Jamie Ridler is so adept at asking her readers questions that we all ask ourselves in some form or another unconsciously, enticing us to bring it outside of ourselves, hold it in our hand, and really examine the thoughts much like a meditative trance. We can answer these questions in a succinct manner, proving our prowess at investigating the basic truths of our existence and our knowledge of some key bites of pseudo-esoteric wisdom via The Secret, The Power, Cosmopolitan's Ten Ways to Live a Fulfilled Life, The Four Agreements, a spiritual leader or guide, a religious institution or sacred Path,

Or...

we can answer these questions that she poses with methodical cadence, letting them smolder into a small earnest flame or rummage around in our minds like a little pack rat stashing shiny objects.

Please don't misunderstand me, I have no qualms whatsoever with people finding meaning and self power in a self-help book, or a ritualized text, or even an important episode of Star Trek.  Self reflection, community mindedness, and a journey of love and peace in any form is an authentic endeavor in my humble opinion. My little rant today on this question is not about the question, and it's not about the answer, it's about how you get there.

So for me, I'd like to wish  for furthering my education of the world and my part in it, by inviting as many sources of knowledge,
as many chosen professions of faith,
as many existentialistic or systematic philosophies of thought,
as many open and freely loving social and political movements,
as many ways as I can possibly understand the world and see it over and over and over again

with new eyes.

Peace to all during this Thanksgiving weekend and my your wishes for yourself and your family come to pass.

  1. Excellent invitations for your goals. So many of us wish to understand but don't know what we need in order to do so.

As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also!

  2. "see it (the world) over and over and over again with new eyes." You have just described my vision of God seeing the world through us. I can't think of a more beautiful intention. As you wish for yourself Carmen, I wish for you also. Blessings.

  6. As Carmen wishes for herself, so I wish for her also!

Your post reminded me of this writer I once heard talk about her view of the universe and religions and such...that everyone's own journey was a spoke on a wheel that all led to the same place.

  7. I am always seeing new things: like today, I saw a circle of palm trees, really tall... that I have driven past I don't know how many times.

Today, I noticed them. They became a part of my life. I saw with new eyes.

As Carmen wishes for herself, so I wish for her also...

  12. Carmen, that is delightfully Postmodern of you. I am a pomo child myself, so I find your invitation/wish refreshing. As you wish for yourself, little mouse with a big spirit, so I also wish for you.
