don't turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive
In my head this morning with the start of a new week and getting ready for the new school year. What I love about attitude is that I have got tons of it. Really. In fact, I imagine it's one of the rare things I've never felt a lack of in my life, even when I was depressed or sad, lost and feeling unwanted, I've always had attitude.
In this instance I'm not talking about the attitude that for me is equivalent to perspective; that a positive mental environment and way I interpret information from the external world is based on the attitude I choose to engender and nurture in my own mind.
Nope, I mean intrinsic, guttural, pit of your stomach serious tude that is unshakable no matter whether I choose to perceive the day as being a "good" one=upbeat, spunky, cheerful. etc. or a "bad" one=morose, conspiratorial, put upon, victimized, smoldering, indignant, etc.
My attitude is probably big enough to leap small buildings in a single bound, and save stranded cats from the branches of a neighbor's tree.
My attitude can fiercely project me into the middle of a crowd and let me belt out a chorus to "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" if I want to.

My attitude protects and provides shelter for those I love, and blows a swift and turbulent gale on those who would cause them harm. My attitude is totally unstoppable even if I am not.
I am a procrastinator, lazy, petulant, judgmental, stubborn, overbearing, insistent, spoiled thing all too often, but my attitude tells me I'm okay in spite of these flaws. She's my biggest cheerleader (even more so than my husband and that is saying A LOT), and I'm so thankful she's mine :)
Please go say hello to John and do share what your tude has done for you lately :) Cheers!

Show IPACome on, haven't you always wanted to tilt with a windmill?
Just leave me a comment saying you're in and be prepared for me to post late, cuz that's how my attitude rolls. Deadlines are fluid things in my world ya know :) If you are unfamiliar with weekword, you can see more of my weekword posts and check out the Weekword Portal hosted by Katy at Creating Misericordia.

Carmen - you post the most interesting selection of photos on your WEEKWORD day.... Love it!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't get to WEEKWORD - taking Kat Sloma's Find Your Eye photography course === so, hopefully, this will be the week.
Perhaps we should send a link to all the past WEEKWORDers & let them know about the portal... I'll look for the list I kept while I was more involved & get back to you! I think that was the key to WEEKWORD getting off the ground at the beginning of this year. If I remember correctly, I think we had 26 participants???
Exactly Christine! I was just sending out individual invites to some of the ladies from the past by going off to their blogs and begging, but I would love for us to get the full list together. The portal is great, but I am mostly concerned that it seems like it might only be editable by Katy? Maybe I'm not quite getting it. I was just about to go find you though and I'm really glad you caught me first! Hugs hugs hugs to you my dear :)
ReplyDeleteSuper Post! Very thought provoking and cool pictures to go with it. Good song, too!
ReplyDeleteCount me in for Quixotic, God willing and the creeks . . .
Ah Carmen, what an attitude, I like it! Of course the word panache may be appropriate for you too.....
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs and a pleasure to read as always!
Oops! I am in too for weekword.
ReplyDeleteMy mum used to make me say a little rhyme about how strong and fast and powerful I was when I was wee, and I think your attitude and my mum have a lot in common!
ReplyDeleteI'm in for this week too!
The portal can be updated by other people, but I'm still getting to grips with it. If you've got a Wordpress blog it can be added to your blogroll or if you blog on another platform there's an email address, so if you want to be a contributor please let me know, I'm more than happy to share!
I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI'm in! Thanks for the email!
