Weekword-Nostalgic via Christine E-E

We had to beg for this to be used
Missile pops and fruit roll-ups

peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich sack lunches everyday in the 4th and 5th grade

fondue night sitting in front of the T.V. on the new carpet

any appliance in avocado green

red/autumn orange/and harvest yellow shag carpet

Creeping down the hallway with my sister's long after we were supposed to be in bed so we could watch t.v. from the side of the couch where my parents couldn't see us

my father's guitar and singing "There once was a man named Michael Finnigan" until our tongues felt heavy from twisting

A cold pillow on a hot summer night and my dad's hand rubbing my back

Unripened apricots you eat anyways

Playing in the cul-de-sac in the seemingly unending twilight

Scooby Doo everyday after school before homework

Peppermint candy in my grandfather's shirt

School swings and cherry drops off the monkey bars

Jelly shoes and mood shirts

L.A. Gear high tops and Guess jeans with zippers up the ankle

Charm bracelets and rad neon sunglasses

crocheted ponchos with pom pom balls for trim

Used on the many six hour car rides to Lake Tahoe
My mother's dancing in the midst of chores

The Beach Boys

Pound puppies and monchichis

Secretly hoping I would get a Mogwai for Xmas

This was a great time-to see more run little trips down memory road, check out Christine E-E's blog :) Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

  1. I love this!! Looks like you are about my age...judging from the jelly shoes (geesh those hurt), fruit roll-ups, L.A. Gears, and Guess jeans! I had red Guess jeans that were tapered at the ankle!

Did you ever have a Pound Puppy?

Thanks for taking me back to simpler times.

...I kid you not, my word verification was "pople" Do you remember popples?

  3. Fantastic post! Reminded me of all the toys and shows I used to love. My cousin had that snoopy thing while I had the easy bake oven. We could make full meals. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

  5. Oh... my daughters had pound puppies & the charm necklaces!!
I absolutely loved your "secret sneak" to watch TV... I remember avoiding certain sections of the hardwood floor (they squeaked) so I could sneak into the den & peek into my Christmas stocking in the middle of the night (after Santa left)....
    Thanks for participating this week!!!

  7. Not sure what happened to my Monchichi, but I love your memory of your grandfather's peppermints, your father's guitar sing-alongs and your mom dancing during chores.
