Jamie asked this week, "What do I wish to spend some time doing?"My short, but dirty answer is that I wish to spend some time away from the t.v., away from Facebook, away from work, where I can just some peace for myself. I'm hoping to turn off the t.v. for good (well at least for 6 months is my goal) this coming week, and would love to spend some time learning yoga-it seems to be everyone's favorite thing to do besides art!
As Carmen Maria wishes for herself, I wholeheartedly wish for her too. Unplug.

ReplyDeletewhich name do you prefer? I like your wish. We only watch tv on our laptops. We only have one tv in our house and it sits in the closet and gathers dust. Well, no, there is the big crappy one out in the garage that I still need to take to the dump.
That is not to say we don't watch stuff, but I think there is a difference. We think about what we would like to see and then we watch it. We don't just mindlessly watch stuff. I remember when I did have a tv that I would go from one show to the next, numb to the fact that I had just launched into another 30 minutes wasted. Now, when I see most sitcoms, I can hardly stand to sit there, they seem so stupid to me and the commercials drive me nuts.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the wishes ladies, and what a treat to hear about your own experience with the dreaded t.v. time suck Cirklagirl. I have no preference really, I'm the 5th generation of firstborn girls named Carmen on my mother's side, so I was always called Marie (middle name) until I reached college and didn't care to correct every instructor every semester. Since I met my husband while teaching under my "adult" name, even he calls me Carmen :)
