I am left handed and have felt a strangely antagonistic and slightly negative connotation by others to this fact of life since I can honestly remember. There are definitely exceptions to this experience (some people are so enthusiastic about it!), but I'm still perplexed by the overall need to point it out in the first place. Left handed to me seems like such a non-issue and generally feels silly to actually even bring up, but it's certainly been important to comment or note upon by a huge range of people in my life-from casual unknown observers to my dearest friends and family.
I'm actually finding the idea of writing about it here curiously irritating (I'm pretty shocked to be honest how raw it feels to talk about something so mundane to me and so worthy of critique by others) and need to come back to it...
I think it's important that I work through emotions and consider why I feel certain ways, but for now, I just wanted to explain why it's taken me so long to post for Weekword and my apologies to those waiting.
So for now, I'll go to my standby collecting of pictures and vids that represent the word for the day and I'll try to come back tonight I hope to explain more and hope you all have an excellent week. Thanks for making me think and really reflect Sally-it's truly amazing the power of words.

Great post, I have a great friend who is left handed, he used to be in the same class as me at High School. He is very intuitive and used to be top at art in our class. It is strange that people find it different.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to write with both my hands. I would often practice writing with my left hand. Of course, I always wanted a black eye, broken bone and bloody nose so I might not be sane. I've only had the black eye. It was all I dreamed it would be.
