Weekword= Ferruginous

fer·ru·gi·nous/fəˈro͞ojənəs/

Adjective:
  1. Containing iron oxides or rust.
  2. Reddish brown; rust-colored.
Synonyms:chalybeate - ferriferous - ferreous - ferrous

I can never seem to figure out how to settle on a word to choose for Weekword-there are just so many buzzing around in my head. What usually settles it for me are these three questions:
1. Is it fun to say? Does it roll off the tongue or tickle my fancy in some way?
2. Does it have more than one meaning, or is in some way flexible?
3. Is it descriptive or does it in some way capture my imagination?

So here we are, with a word that I love to say and makes me happy to imagine. I do sincerely invite any and all to play along with us this week-just post your take on this word in some creative mode and let us know you'll be playing by leaving a comment here.

  3. Thanks, Biomouse. I miss you guys, too! I like the pens.

    I am leaving tomorrow for a poetry workshop--and will be gone for three days. The workshops are all day. Tonight, I am leaving in half an hour for a poetry and music event. So I may not be able to play along, BUT I LOVE THAT WORD and would like to!!!

    I'm hoping that during the winter, I won't be quite so busy traveling and taking workshops.

    I was thinking of a poem and painting of a ferruginous hawk, but it would also be fun to think of other ways to use the word.
