Now, as wonderful as it is to have such happy news, I'll admit, this was not my intended post for Resonate. The scientist in me immediately saw this week's word and thought of Resonance Structures in Chemistry. It's pretty tough to describe with any clarity, but lets just say that resonance structures are a way to represent in writing the molecular structure of a compound using what is commonly called Lewis Dot Structure. These molecules however have more than one way of drawing them due to the non-localization of electrons (following the octet rule), so a resonance structure is considered an averaged way of depicting the molecule between all of it's possible ways of representing the structure. See, this is tough to describe! What is toughest about the sciences is trying to teach something that is our best understanding of how our physical world works, while making it clear that it's wrong and that what was just explained to you doesn't actually exist, but it's as good as we can get to representing a non-fixed principle of the physical world.
My favorite movie of all time, and I can only find tiny little pieces of it, but it's wonderful and makes me think of some wonderful ways to describe and appreciate the beauty and grand philosophical symphony of Science. Based off the work of Fritjof Capra, for anyone who is interested, I highly recommend his book, The Dao of Physics.
So I think this week's word leaves me feeling that I'm constantly enamored with the elegance of Life.
Thanks for stopping by and do consider playing with us Weekword (it's a blast), and definitely do visit John at The Healing Seed.
Have a great weekend!
