My apologies for taking a break from this blog, I've been doing my best this weekend to work on my NaNoWriMo novel, unsuccessfully work (I've made two that had promise but went haywire somewhere) on making a card for my brother-in-law as he goes through personal struggles with his family, and trying to catch up at work after being gone in Ohio for a week. I'm really having a hard time with feeling like I don't have a definite personal style to my artistic endeavors just yet, and it seems I'm terrified of actually writing for any serious length...no wonder NaNoWriMo is such a big test for me! I just wanted to share some quotes that I am thinking of while contemplating life and inevitable loss that comes with living wholeheartedly and without abandon.
"Love your life, perfect your life,
beautify all things in your life.
And prepare a noble death song for the day
when you go over the great divide.
beautify all things in your life.
And prepare a noble death song for the day
when you go over the great divide.
When your time comes to die, be not like those
whose hearts are filled with fear of death.
Sing your death song,
and die like a hero going home.”
(The Teaching of Tecumseh, Attitude Toward Death)

and die like a hero going home.”

“What is life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night.
It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime.
It is the little shadow which runs across the grass
and loses itself in the sunset.”
(Crowfoot, Blackfoot warrior and orator)

“May the stars carry your sadness away,
May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,
May hope forever wipe away your tears,
And, above all, may silence make you strong.”
(Chief Dan George)

"Drink from this heart now,
for all this loving it contains.
When you look for it again,
it will be dancing in the wind."
(Shaikh Abu-Saeed Abil-Kheir)

Back to NaNo for me :)

I find for me when I have to try to do something like writing or painting, it is so much more difficult than letting it flow. Now if I could only "flow" when I wanted..........
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes!
Writing is so difficult at times and then it can be so easy...strange. I guess it just can't be forced. Take care.
